At the end of June, 1977 St. Alphonsus lost another pastor, Fr. Bertrand Shenk. Fr. Shenk can be credited for many things during his five year stay, especially the groundwork for the sesquicentennial festivities. Fr. Shenk, a student of history, aroused interest in many people enabling this [history] to be finished. The Sesquicentennial would progress through the leadership of the new pastor, Fr. J. Norbert Howe.
