Fr. Joseph Blaser was a native of Schlier, Germany, and was born on November 8, 1846. He was ordained at Eichstatt, Bavaria, in 1870 and came to the Cleveland Diocese three years later. While at St. Aloysius, he oversaw a complete renovation of the church. He died, at Peru, on January 25, 1895.
