Fr. Henry Damien Junker was born at Fenetrange, France on August 22, 1809. He came to America in 1831 and, in 1834, became the first priest to be ordained by Bishop Purcell of Cincinnati. In 1857, Fr. Junker was appointed Bishop of Alton, Illinois ( Now the Diocese of Springfield ) He died on October 21, 1868. | |
