Fr. Joseph McNamee was from Ireland, though he spoke perfect German. He was ordained in Cincinnati in 1839 and served at St. Mary, in Tiffin until 1847. During this time he travelled to most of the missions in Northwest Ohio, despite being in poor health. Fr. McNamee left the Diocese of Cincinnati in 1847 and died, at Pawtucket, Rhode Island, in 1853.
