Fr. Frederick Rese was born, in Germany, in 1791. He served as Vicar General of the Diocese of Cincinnati and, in 1833, was made Bishop of Detroit. Bishop Rese was called to Rome, in 1837, where he resigned due to unspecified mental health issues. He retained the titular Bishop of Detroit until his death in 1871. | |
